Natural dyeing with antique 19th Century linen

I have recently started dyeing with antique secondhand linen sourced from brocante markets in France. This means that rather than using new fabric I’m reusing cloth that has already had a life - making my textile process as sustainable and circular as possible. The linen is beautiful; not only does it have a wonderful texture, and a heavy luxurious drape but there are subtle signs of the life it had previously. I feel that all these elements create an heirloom fabric, a textile piece that will be kept for a lifetime and passed down through generations.
